Bharatiya Janata Party’s Legislative Council member Ramnath Mote sat on a dharna inside the Mantralaya Monday protesting against delays in the implementation of the decision to provide a 20 per cent grant for teachers’ salaries to 1,628 schools that were originally approved on non-grant basis.

A legislator from the teachers’ constituency, Mote sat on a dharna outside Education Secretary Nand Kumar’s office on the fourth floor of the state secretariat. While the state cabinet had on August 29 approved the grant and the BJP had even taken political credit for the move, Mote complained that the government resolution in this regard was not issued. Following the legislator’s complaint, sources later confirmed, the department issued the resolution.
