The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday launched DigitalBJP, a mobile cloud based application designed for the party, with the objective of connecting office-bearers and party workers across the country down to the Mandal level, to a central information repository.

The DigitalBJP project is another step taken by the BJP towards PM Narendra Modi’s vision of digital empowerment for the party and its members and ministers.

PM Modi and his team have used Facebook and Twitter to great effect over the last two years of his term. For most ministers, and their ministries, both platforms have become tools to communicate with the people and get immediate feedback. And this has helped percolate a social media culture to government officials across the country.

The cloud based application was launched for BJP’s Haryana unit on Thursday and would gradually include other units of the country within the next 12 months.

Keeping ‘Make in India’ initiative in mind, the app was developed by a Delhi based company—Newgen Software.

The DigitalBJP would be a single central source for all related information for the party, right from day to day activities to the historical information that would connect all party members together. The application is integrated with all social media platforms to quickly spread information and messages.
