The BJP Saturday attacked AAP leader Ashutosh over his blog about sacked Delhi minister Sandeep Kumar and questioned Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s silence about the piece which allegedly “compared” Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru with Kumar.
Claiming that the blog’s content was “shameful and inexcusable”, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said Kejriwal must apologise to the people.
“The most worrisome and shameful topic is that great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Atal Bihari Vajpayee… have been… insulted. The father of the nation has been… insulted. The person whom the world follows has been compared with the AAP leader and it is highly objectionable. This is inexcusable,” he said, demanding that Kejriwal tender an apology.
Recalling Kejriwal’s visit to Rajghat before launching his political career, Patra said, “He should speak out when Gandhi’s character is attacked by his partymen.” Kejriwal is currently in Rome to attend the canonisation ceremony to bestow Mother Teresa with sainthood.
Responding to the blog, Sisodia said, “These are Ashutosh’s personal views… but the party is clear. In AAP, there is zero tolerance on any charge about character, corruption and crime. If there are such charges against me, similar action will be taken, as has been done in case of Kumar.”
