Police have initiated the process of cancelling the arms licence of two persons, including a village pradhan, who are wanted in connection with the Bijnor clash.

Police recovered one licensed weapon, a 12 bore rifle, from the possession of Teekaram Singh, father of arm licence holder Tejpal Singh. Teekaram Singh and five others were arrested on Saturday for the clash. Another such licence holder is the pradhan of Nayagaon village, Dilawar Singh. Dilawar, who has a license for a DBBL gun, is also an accused and is currently absconding.

“Of the 27 named in the FIR, Tejpal and Dilawar Singh have arm licenses. They were issued a long time ago. We suspect Tejpal’s rifle was used in the crime but it needs to be confirmed,” said City Kotwali police Station House Officer Rishi Ram Katheria.

“Dilawar is missing and we are yet to recover his gun. We have initiated the process and had sent a report to the district magistrate’s office for cancellation of the arm licences,” he added. ENS
