The Lok Sabha witnessed some angry exchanges between BJP and Congress members Wednesday after Anurag Thakur of the BJP claimed that a book — India’s Struggle For Independence — which was part of the Delhi University curriculum, described martyr Bhagat Singh as “a revolutionary terrorist”. He also called for a debate on what was being taught in the educational institutions.
Raising the issue during zero hour, Thakur claimed the book, written by Bipan Chadra and Mridula Mukherjee, described Rahul Gandhi as a “charismatic leader”. Several Congress members sprang to their feet to protest. The writers, Thakur claimed, had links with the Congress.
