He said the gang demanded a ransom of Rs 1 lakh for releasing Sandeep and Ravi. The latter managed to convince the gang that they would pay. For that, the kidnappers would have to accompany him to Ganganagar. Late that night, Darshan, Varun and Arun drove Ravi to collect the money. Ravi, the DCP said, had informed his associates about the abduction and the plan to come with the accused to collect ransom.

Armed with wooden logs, Ravi’s friends waited at Ganganagar 2nd cross and attacked the vehicle. “Ravi’s associates managed to release him, and he (Ravi) fled,” Suresh said. “The other kidnappers with Sandeep in Chikkajala set him free and fled. We have formed multiple teams to nab the abductors and the attackers.”

Police said a kidnapping case has been lodged against six people, including Darshan and Varun, and a case of murder and attempt to murder against unknown persons — Ravi and Sandeep’s associates who allegedly attacked the car.
