Four boys, all between 13 and 14 years, were mowed down by a speeding train near Borgaon under Behali police station in Biswanath district in northern Assam in the wee hours of Sunday, with police suspecting that the boys were unaware of a train arriving around that time of the night.

Bodies of four boys were found lying along the railway track near Borgaon level crossing on between Biswanath Chariali and Monabari railway stations only after daybreak, with the suspicion that they were mowed down by the 15614 Down Murkongselek-Guwahati Inter-City Express that crosses that area around 2 AM in the morning.
“The victims were identified by their respective parents as Suraj Goala, Ganesh Munda, Lakhindar Kalkamar and Ganesh Ghatowar, and they were returning home after attending a mela organized as part of the Kartik puja celebrations in a nearby village across the railway track,” Biswanath deputy commissioner Ashitaksha Chakravarty said. The boys, all between 13 and 14 years of age, were school students, he informed.
