Assam flood situation worsens, over 12.5 lakh people affected

The total number of people affected has now gone up to 12.5 lakh.

The flood situation in Assam worsened Monday with more than 6 lakh more people affected across 18 districts of the state. The total number of people affected has now gone up to 12.5 lakh.

While seven people have died in the calamity so far, more than 88,000 have been moved to 220 relief camps.

Besides teams of NDRF and state disaster response force, the Army has been deployed in several districts for rescue work. Dhubri, which shares the international boundary with Bangladesh, remained the worst-affected on Monday.
