Nupur Talwar, the mother of Aarushi, was released from jail Monday night for three weeks, after she was granted parole by Allahabad High Court last week, to visit her ailing mother.
Her release was ordered by a division bench comprising justices B K Narayana and A K Mishra following her plea that she be granted parole as her mother was seriously ill and all her other siblings were abroad.
The court granted the plea saying she may be on parole to take care of her mother until her siblings come back.
Nupur and her husband Rajesh Talwar were convicted for the gruesome killings of Aarushi Talwar and their domestic help Hemraj by the CBI court in 2013.
The couple, dentists by profession, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the court.
Their daughter, fourteen-year-old Aarushi was found dead at their Noida flat on May 16, 2008. While it was initially suspected that their domestic help Hemraj killed Aarushi, the case took a critical turn when Hemraj’s body was recovered two days later from the terrace of the same flat. The couple’s clinic assistants were also under the scanner but no incriminating evidence was found against them.
The case was first being investigated by the Noida police but it was transferred to the CBI. The couple was found guilty of the murder and was sentenced to life imprisonment after five years of investigation.
