‘Arunachal Ratna’ for DSP Bomto Kamdak killed in encounter

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday conferred the title of ‘Arunachal Ratna’ on DSP Bomto Kamdak, who died during an operation against a criminal gang in the state’s East Kameng district.

Making the announcement after unfurling the national flag on Independence Day in Itanagar, Khandu said Kamdak was “a true martyr who, despite all odds, stood against the evil and valiantly fought the criminal forces till the end”.

Khandu also announced a new policy of giving ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh to the next of kin of all police personnel who lose their lives fighting terrorists and criminals. The title of “Arunachal Ratna” was also instituted.
