Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday flayed PM Narendra Modi for “penalising the poor” under the garb of “crackdown on black money” and challenged the government to arrest 648 holders of Swiss bank accounts by Thursday evening.
The AAP convener also alleged that BJP’s “friends” were informed about the Centre’s move to demonetise notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 a week ago, and that they had already done their “setting”.

“There are rumours everywhere. Everywhere people said that and there is proof that they (BJP) had informed their people, their friends having a lot of black money, a week ago, and they had made necessary arrangements. They either sent their money out, bought land or gold. BJP is contesting elections in UP and elsewhere. They have made their arrangements… If anyone is dying, it is the common people. I have spoken to a lot of people. They said those with black money have already done their setting. With a commission of 15-20 per cent, they will get home delivery of Rs 2,000 notes,” Kejriwal said in a video message.
“In 2011, the government had a list of 648 names holding accounts in Swiss banks. Congress was hand-in-glove with them. It took no action against them, but neither did you… Arrest these 648 people by this evening and I challenge you, black money will be finished in this country. But you won’t do it. Why? Because your friends are on that list,” he said.
