The last rites of Army jawan Mandeep Singh (27), who was killed by terrorists and his body mutilated in Machil sector of Jammu and Kashmir, were held with full state honours on Sunday at his native village Antehri in Kurukshetra district of Haryana.
The jawan’s body was wrapped in Tricolour and brought to Antehri, where a huge crowd had gathered to pay their last respects.
Even as Singh’s family and locals demanded that Pakistan be given a befitting reply, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar said the jawan’s death will be avenged and announced Rs 50 lakh as aid to the soldier’s family.
The jawan was given a gun salute before Mandeep’s father lit the funeral pyre.
