An Army jawan on Tuesday killed four of his relatives before shooting himself with his rifle. Sources attributed the killings to a family dispute. Jagdeep Singh had come for a holiday to his village Hassanpur in Sangrur’s Dhuri constituency. Police authorities said that he was upset due to continuous domestic discord in the house, which also involved a property dispute.

The deceased included Jagdeep Singh’s sister-in-law Gurpreet Kaur, his aunt Labh Kaur, her grandson Harmandeep Singh, and another relative Harmail Kaur.

The injured were identified as Harjinder Singh (Jagdeep’s cousin), Navinder Singh, Gurmit Kaur and Tarsem Singh.
All those injured in the incident were admitted to Patiala’s Rajindra Medical College, and were stated to be critical.
