After opposing entry into its campus last year, teachers and students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) are all set to roll out the red carpet for BJP’s Bijnor MP Kunwar Bhartendra Singh, who they have decided to felicitate for his “efforts” in securing the Centre’s help for the AMU’s off-campus centres.

Singh, who was last year nominated as a member of the AMU Court, the university’s apex body, had faced strong opposition as his name had figured in the Muzaffarnagar riots of 2013. To avoid controversy, the MP did not visit the university then.
