Amity student death: Preliminary probe doesn’t suggest foul play, say police

A day after the death of 19-year-old engineering student at Amity University, preliminary investigation by the police has not found any foul play in the incident.

“We are analysing the call detail records and CCTV footage of the area but so far no suspicious activity has been found. The family has blamed the university administration of negligence. Their concerns are being looked into and we expect to ascertain the turn of events by tomorrow,” said Dinesh Yadav, SP (City), Gautam Budh Nagar district.

While varsity ordered a probe, its five-member committee is expected to submit its findings in a few days, a University official said. On Thursday, body of Udit Shankar Singh was found behind the University hostel building in Noida’s Sector 125. While no suicide note was recovered, police found one slipper on fifth floor of the hostel building and the other next to the body. Singh was rushed to Hospital in Noida where he was declared brought dead.
