CHIEF MINISTER Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday told wrestler Narsingh Yadav that his government would request the Centre to order a CBI probe into the doping scandal, which has led to the grappler being handed a four-year ban.
This was after Narsingh, who hails from Varanasi district, met Akhilesh at his residence in Lucknow on Tuesday.
“One should not be disappointed with just one incident, and should instead think ahead for a better future. The Uttar Pradesh government will recommend to the central government to conduct a CBI inquiry into all the facts, so that the entire incident can be deeply investigated,” Akhilesh said in a statement.
He also asked the wrestler, who failed to compete at the Rio Olympics after being handed a ban by Court of
Arbitration of Sports (CAS) for testing positive for banned substance, to look ahead.
Akhilesh also said that once action had been taken against the guilty, it would also help in reducing chances of such incidents happening with other players.
Narsingh’s parentsm along with locals, had staged a dharna in Varanasi last month, demanding a probe into the allegations of doping.
