The state is his family, his wife and children are his family, father Mulayam and uncle Shivpal are not in the frame — that’s the message, loud and clear, in a new video released by the official Twitter handle of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s office and also uploaded on the state government’s channel on YouTube.
The video’s opening line: “Every day I commit myself to the future of Uttar Pradesh.”
It shows the CM sitting at a dining table with his daughter and wife. The first shot of the video shows his wife and MP from Kannauj, Dimple Yadav, serving food to him and their elder daughter. The video ends with him playing cricket with his children after a long day at work and Dimple standing in the background.
The video ends with: “Uttar Pradesh, India, is my family.” It shows Akhilesh watching Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha building from his new office Lok Bhawan.
While there was no official confirmation from Samajwadi Party on whether it is a campaign video, the projection of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav with his immediate family — Dimple and children — and referring to Uttar Pradesh as his family set off political buzz that this was an attempt by the CM to distance himself from the family feud. And that he is ready to go it alone.
Indeed, throughout the video, Akhilesh is shown working alone in his office, walking alone down the corridor. There are scenes where he and Dimple are in his office — in one, Dimple watches an official presentation with him.
The second half of the video shows Akhilesh holding official meetings, entering his new state-of-the-art office, giving away relief cheques, getting applause for his speeches and posing for a selfie with youngsters. In the end, it shows his elder daughter and son asking him — when he is in a meeting — to come out and play cricket with them.
There is a Hindi version of the video which ends with the words, “Uttar Pradesh Mera Pariwar hai.”
