Nine including four children killed in road accident in Vadodara

According to the Karjan Police accident happened late on Sunday night, when a SUV car jumped the road divider and overturned after the driver lost the control.

Nine persons, including four children, were killed and three injured when an SUV collided with a bus near Karjan town in Vadodara on national highway 8 late on Sunday night. The deceased have been identified as Vikas Gehlot(28), Rinku Gehlot(27), Aarav Gehlot (2), Mithi Gehlot (4 months), all residents of Pandesara area of Surat; Kailash Solanki (24), Nisha Rathod(30), Pari Rathod(5) and Yuvi Rathod (3), residents of Pune, Maharashtra, and Jalak Shah (30), resident of the Ahmadabad.

According to the Karjan Police, the accident happened when the SUV jumped the road divider and overturned after the driver lost control over the vehicle. The SUV also hit the private bus on other side of the road. Police said eight out of nine persons traveling in the SUV died on the spot.

Nine persons of the Gehlot and Rathod family were travelling in the SUV on their way to wards Surat on NH 8. After the accident, traffic on the national highway was disturbed for an hour.

The injured are under treatment at private hospital in Karajan. “SUV was almost crushed after the accident, police had to cut the door to took out the dead bodies of the victims. One of the dead bodies was found on the roadside. All the deceased were taken to the Karjan health center for autopsy,” police said.

Based on the complaint lodged by the private bus driver accused has been booked under IPC section 279(Rash driving or riding on a public way ), 337(Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others ), 338(Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others ), 304( Punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and under section 184 of the motor vehicle act.
