Gujarat Mahila Federation (GMF) urged all political parties in the state contesting upcoming Assembly elections to include reforms for women in their manifestos.

Seeking 30 per cent reservation for women candidates in the Assembly polls and 50 per cent in panchayats and nagarpalika elections,GMF president Ila Pathak also demanded that the legislation restraining parents of more than two children from contesting panchayat and nagarpalika polls must be done away with.

Claiming that crime against women had gone up over the last decade,Pathak said,“Existing laws should be strictly implemented to protect women against increasing atrocities.”
