Goa: State police probe death of a foreign national

According to the police, Madeleine ran a private tours and travels company which has been registered in the country since 2006.

Goa Police are probing into the case of unnatural death of a senior citizen of Netherland nationality, whose body was discovered in a decomposed state at her flat in Calangute beach on Thursday.

The investigators ascertained that the 64-year old Nicolle Marthe Madeleine Genonceau had died on Tuesday. However, no one took note of her absence until foul smell started emanating from her room late Thursday evening.

According to the police, Madeleine ran a private tours and travels company which has been registered in the country since 2006. “Nicolle also held valid documentation for her stay in India till 2017,” an official said referring to details obtained by Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) website.

The jurisdictional police have registered a case of Unnatural Death (UD), and the body of the deceased as been sent to Goa Medical College (GMC) for postmortem and preservation. The police officials added that they have referred the matter to the respective embassy through FRRO and following autopsy report they will continue the probe.
