Former BJP national secretary Sanjay Joshi appeared alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi on posters at the Ayurved and Natural Products Exhibition-India Expo, which was inaugurated in Ahmedabad on Friday. The posters added fuel to speculation about Joshi’s “comeback” in the party and Gujarat politics.
Joshi, once considered Modi’s bete noire, not only appeared in the posters — placed strategically at the venue — but also visited the exhibition. A group of private players organised the event with support from Ministry of AYUSH, said Gujarat AYUSH Director Dr Kandarp Desai.
Asked about the posters, Joshi said, “Everybody’s health will improve now.”
Dr Hasmukh Soni, chairman of the Gujarat Board of Ayurvedic and Unani Systems of Medicine, which is one of the supporting organisations, said, “Since Joshi has a lot of interest in ayurveda, he has been invited and is also seen in the posters.”
PM Modi will be in Gujarat on Saturday to inaugurate an Amul cheese unit.
Responding to queries on his comeback, Joshi said, “BJP will certainly form the government in 2017. I am active in the party. I am with BJP at core. But today I have come for the AYUSH function.”
