Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday asked all chief secretaries to work expeditiously towards ensuring that all traders register under the GST regime before August 15, a PMO statement said. He conveyed this while chairing a meeting of Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation (PRAGATI), a multi-modal platform through which he interacts with top officials of state governments via tele-conferencing.

GST was rolled out on July 1, ushering a new system of indirect taxes in the country. During the meeting, the prime minister also reviewed the progress towards handling and resolution of grievances related to the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and the Directorate of Estates and asked the Urban Development ministry to proactively monitor the same, with sensitivity, the statement said.

Modi asked the CPWD to encourage all vendors to come aboard the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) platform, the PMO said. Modi also reviewed the progress of vital and long-pending infrastructure projects in the railway, road and petroleum sectors, spread over several states including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Arunachal Pradesh.

The projects reviewed Wednesday include the Chennai Beach-Korukkupet third line and the Chennai Beach-Attippattu fourth line; the Howrah-Amta-Champadanga new Broad Gauge line. Four-laning of Varanasi bypass; four-laning of Muzaffarnagar-Haridwar section of NH-58 were also reviewed.

“Noting that several of the projects reviewed today have been pending for decades, and in one case, over four decades, the prime minister urged all chief secretaries to take all possible steps to avoid delays, and resulting cost escalations,” the statement said. He emphasized on speedy implementation of such infrastructure projects, it added.

The prime minister also reviewed the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) and urged the concerned departments to accelerate the adoption of new construction technologies at the earliest, the statement said. PTI AKK

India is in safe and strong hands of an administrator who means business.....what better than a Gujju CEO who knows how to grow business.....be it the business of governance. PM Modi and BJP-Led-NDA are delivering unprecedented professional governance where everyone in the 'delivery chain' is being made accountable. Visible disciplining of the workforce of the Govt. which thrives on tax-payers' money. And that is why I have no complaints against RSS-BJP-Combine-Led-NDA.....honesty of intent !

PM Modi is the best PM. All should join in nation building. Congress was a scam disaster to the nation. Only interested in the dynasty welfare and minority pleasing at the cost of nation.

in congress regimes nothing was functional in this nation.....only corruption......contrast this to NDA's governance in which the 'sincerity of intent' element in Modi and his cabinet colleagues has made the top-down command system so effective that Modi or a minister of his just give one instruction and the entire administrative machinery nationwide follows it up earnestly......the confidence of the Nation is fully restored in the Govt.'s 'professional intelligence' on issues of economic governance being dealt with with methodical and technology-aided standardization of the processes that would unquestionably lead to large-scale gains to the stakeholders in trade and industry , and the Govt. itself which must be financially strong and robust to deliver on public spending. No trader would in her or his senses would anymore want to play 'unfair'.....we'll have honesty in business, finally, which was missing during the 65yrs of corrupt colonial-congress which was corrupting everyone.

how much do you got for spreding lies about the opposition. your mother and father never lived in India that you do know anything about last 65 years. better ask them one day and you will know the truth. anyway bhakts are there to criticize the opposition to hide failure of BJP. do you know, who started GST prossess? do you know who opened the economies in 1990? anyway if you are not born at that time its not your fault. just managing 2002, fake encounters and empy hot air will not save you in preaching it.

what you are essentially admitting is that corruption in india got so deep-rooted in those 65yrs (when the nation moved at a snail's pace while most of the world leaped forward), that Modi alone will not be able to remove it ......you are right , that is why Modi took along with him a billion-plus well-wishers of the Nation who stood by him even in demonetization and now in GST....you can be of some help by keeping your compulsive anti-modi rants to yourself that waste of your own energy other than exposing your mediocrity and poor political intelligence that Team-Modi is trying to help you get rid of . India has moved out of that ancient corrupt colonial-congress that conditioned you to 'easy life of easy money'.....today's millions of young women and men insearch of clean and honest livelihoods do not fear to work hard and take risks.....they are all entrepreneurial in at ude the way BJP-Led-NDA Govt. is with a Gujju CEO duly competent in the business of governance !
