Private schools in Delhi are once again facing allegations of “violating” Directorate of Education (DoE) guidelines, with many coming out with separate lists for candidates selected in general and EWS categories.

According to clause 4(i) of the guidelines issued through a notification by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi,“The school shall display the list of children to be admitted, under free-ship and general category, commonly in alphabetic order indicating (G) against general category children.” But certain schools have notified different dates for the release of the lists of the selected candidates.

Tagore International School,Vasant Vihar, will release the list of candidates selected in the general category on January 28,2012,while the list of selected candidates in the EWS category will be displayed on February 10,2012.

DPS International School,RK Puram, has likewise notified January 18,2012,as the day of declaring the first list of candidates selected under the general category. For applicants under the EWS category, the lottery draw will be held on January 25,2012 and the list will be out on January 27,2012.

Principal of Tagore International,East of Kailash,Suman Nath said,“As far as our school is concerned,we are not aware of any such guidelines.”

However, schools alone are not to blame for the confusion regarding the display of lists. Officials at the DoE were also “unsure” of clause 4(i) and said EWS admissions “usually take longer than the general category admissions as verification of documents of the EWS candidates takes time.”
