The Civil Services Preliminary Examination, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission, took place in over 30 centres across the city on Sunday. The examination consisted two papers, the first one tested the candidate’s general awareness, while the second paper tested the candidate’s aptitude for civil services.

Most aspirants said the general awareness exam followed the expected pattern and had questions from history, geography, economics and science, but a lot of candidates were surprised by the number of questions on government schemes.

Aspirants also said there was a drop in the number of questions from current affairs as compared to last year.

The Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) was the second paper of the exam and tested the candidate’s mathematical and comprehension skills.

“The English comprehension this year was very lengthy. We were required to read several pages before answering the questions. The mathematics and syllogism questions were quite easy,” said Sohrab Singh Chauhan,a test taker from the city.

The results are expected to be declared in two months.
