The vision for the UCD Science District is to host a community of ground-breaking scientists and engineers,expert in their core disciplines and working together in a world-class environment to provide innovative solutions to global problems. A core objective is the strategic integration of science with related disciplines including Agri-Food,Biomedicine,Engineering,and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) – all of which UCD are have an international reputation for. This overarching approach will serve to reinforce Ireland’s economic prosperity and pre-eminence in science and related disciplines.  The new Science Centre is intended to be a transformational resource for Irish Science. It will act as a highly visible,high quality and inspiring showpiece and resource at a university,National and International level. The proposed centre for excellence will reinforce UCD’s ability to shape the Irish agenda. The centre will provide facilities,which will both attract and generate the highest level students,graduates and staff in the fields of Science and Engineering. Attracting the very best Indian students and researchers to our world-class facilities is a key objective of the UCD College of Science. The new facilities will not disappoint…

Science in UCD covers core and applied disciplines including biological,chemical,geological,mathematical,physical and computer sciences as well as finance,actuarial sciences,meteorology and biopharmaceutical sciences. Increasingly big questions require answers that draw on a multitude of skills often situated at the interface of disciplines. For this reason UCD adopts an interdisciplinary approach,which connect knowledge across boundaries and breakdown academic silos. Research questions addressed by academics from the UCD College of Science,look at green energy and the environment,biomedical research,complex numerical systems,nanotechnology,sensors and the interface of biology and technology.

Why Science in UCD?

UCD,ranked in the top 1% World Universities per 2012 QS Rankings (ranking 130) is one of the oldest universities in Ireland. Established in 1854,UCD is Ireland’s largest and most international university (with over 25,000 students of which over 5,500 are international from over 122 countries around the world). This combined with its status as Ireland’s leader in postgraduate education (over a quarter of all graduate students in Ireland study in UCD) has proven it to be the most popular university for Indian students looking to study at university level in Ireland.

UCD offers the most broad and diverse Science programme in Ireland.
