After govt assurance,Surendranath College to reopen today

With university examinations beginning on May 18,Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has asked Education Minister Bratya Basu to ensure police protection for students and teachers of Surendranath College in the wake of a Trinamool scuffle on campus.

With university examinations beginning on May 18,Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has asked Education Minister Bratya Basu to ensure police protection for students and teachers of Surendranath College in the wake of a Trinamool scuffle on campus.

After the recent brawl between two students’ union groups,the college authorities had decided to close the night shift till May 15.

On receiving assurances from the education minister and Chief Minister,the college authorities decided to open the college from tomorrow. Additional police forces have been deployed on campus.

Chinmoy Shekhar Sarkar,principal of Surendranath (Day) College,said the director of public instructor has been asked to monitor the law and order situation for the safety of students.

Examinations will be held on the scheduled dates.

Attendance in the day college was thin as most teachers and students stayed away.

TMCCP state president Shanku Deb Panda,who was allegedly involved in the scuffle,could not be contacted despite several attempts.
