The Pune police have arrested a man,along with his parents,for allegedly murdering his wife by pushing her into a 2,000-ft deep gorge in Verandah Ghat at Bhor.
Victim Sunita Vikram Shevates father Narayan Kushaba Kudale (58),an employee of PMPML and a resident of Hadapsar,had lodged the complaint at Wanavdi police station .
Police arrested Sunitas husband Vikram (32),father-in-law Shankar (61) and mother-in-law Alka (48),all of Mahadev Nagar,under Sections 302,498 (a) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
They were produced before a magistrate court on Monday and were remanded in police custody till July 20.
Meanwhile,police have recovered Sunitas body from the gorge with the help of trekkers.
Police said that Sunita married Vikram about eight years ago and have two daughters aged four and two.
Vikram and his parents allegedly used to harass Sunita physically and mentally for dowry.
Sunita had gone out for some work on July 13 and did not return. Her father had then also lodged a missing persons report.
Investigations revealed after Sunita had left her fathers home on July 13 after receiving a call from her husband Vikram. He told Sunita that they would visit Mandhardev Temple.
The couple left for the temple in a car. On reaching the Kawla Kada point at Mahad,Vikram pushed her into the deep gorge.
Pune Venturers Trekking Club recovered the body around 5.30 am on Sunday after a six-hour rescue work.
Senior inspector Bajirao Mohite of Wanavdi police is investigating the case.
