Police have arrested a student of a college in Gurgaon for allegedly kidnapping and raping a classmate after she “rejected his marriage proposals”.

“The medical examination confirmed that the girl has been raped. During questioning, the youth admitted that he committed the crime. Though three of his friends were also involved,it is not a gangrape,” station house officer (SHO) Rajendra Kumar said.

Police said the youth took the girl,a BA second-year student, along with three of his friends to Alwar on August 3. On the way,he gave her a sedative-laced drink. In her complaint, she said he had “booked a room” in Alwar’s Kamla Colony, where he raped her, police said.

The girl said the youth had approached her several times in the past with marriage proposals, but she had refused. When police asked her why she accepted his invitation to go to Alwar, she said she agreed since three other boys were also accompanying them.

After she failed to return from college on August 3,the girl’s family initially thought she might have gone to some friend’s place and stayed overnight. She returned the next day and narrated her ordeal to her parents.

It took them some time to recover from the shock and they finally lodged an FIR on Tuesday. Police managed to catch the youth by Tuesday evening.

“Police teams are on the lookout for his three absconding friends. We will nab them very soon,” SHO Rajendra said.

The four youth belong to a colony in Gurgaon, while the girl is from an adjacent area.
