A 22-year-old girl from Thane city ended her life after her boyfriend allegedly refused to marry her,a local police investigation has revealed.
A police officer investigating the case who recorded evidence given by the girl’s family said that it was a case of failure in love.
She hung herself to death, when her family members were away on a Monday night and left a suicide note, which gave a clue to the police.
Her suicide note had everything struck off except the words,”Mummy,I do not not wish to marry”,though the girl’s parents had never mentioned anything about her affair to the police.
Also,a social organisation in the region called Pashchim Maharashtra Seva Samiti revealed everything and asked the police to take action against a youth called Vijay Gupta, who allegedly sexually abused the girl under the pretext of marrying her.
Even the fact that she had made an unsucessful attempt to end her life two months ago and treated at a hospital at Gupta’s expense was not informed to the police.
Allegedly, her suicide note had mentioned Gupta’s name which was struck off along with other text and hence there was a demand to register an offence against him.
Police sub-inspector Kishore Tawde of the Sri Nagar police station told PTI that according to information given by her parents,it seems to be a case of failed love. Further investigations are on,he said.
