A 70-year-old Gujjar and his son were allegedly killed by some unidentified people at Sadota village in Lander Pancheri area of hilly Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday night.

Sarju, 70, and his son Binya, 22, both were found dead in a pool of blood on their cots. After killing them with sharp edged weapons, the assailants had put blanket on their bodies. The police came to know about the double murder following information by local people on Tuesday morning.

Sources said that the deceased along with their family members and cattle had returned home from Nawanshehar in Punjab only four days ago. While their family members proceeded to highland pastures in Sanasar area, Sarju along with his son stayed at home to cultivate maize crop.

As police reached the spot, local villagers held demonstrations in protest over the killings. Pointing out that this was the seventh killing in the area since 2002, they alleged that police have failed to crack even a single case.
