Bihar: Youth found hanging from tree a day after panchayat ostracised him

The victim's family alleged that family members and relatives of the girl were behind his killing.

A 21-year-old youth, Raghunath Rai, who was ostracised by his village panchayat for having an affair with a girl, was found hanging to a tree near Baghmati river at Tariyani under Sheohar district on Wedneday.

The victim’s family alleged that family members and relatives of the girl were behind his killing.

Sheohar DSP Abdul Khaliq said a case of murder was registered against 13 people but no arrest was made so far. The DSP confirmed that Chhapra Tariyani village panchayat had on Monday imposed a fine of Rs 51,000 on the youth and had asked him not to return to the village till the girl got marrried.
