Three of the seven accused in a murder case awarded life term escaped from the courtroom after the sentencing on Friday. Only one constable from Bhosari police station was present when the sentence was pronounced in Shivajinagar court.

The court of additional sessions judge O P Jaiswal convicted Pratik Devidas Dolas (21),Mithilesh Sanjay Kamble (21),Vijay Maruti Dhamdhere (25),Mayur Dagaji Bachchhav (23),Mayur Vilas Malusare (23),Raj Mohan Sonawane (25) and Sachin Vijyanand Dolas (21),all residents of Bhosari in the murder case. They were held guilty of murdering Harshal Tikhe on April 26,2010. One of the accused Bunty Ashok Bhalerao is yet to be arrested.

Additional public prosecutor A S Mulchandani said,“All the seven were out on bail and had come for the judgement on Friday. After the court pronounced them guilty,Kamble,Dhamdhere and Malusare managed to flee from the courtroom. A warrant has been issued against them.”

The other convicts were sent to Yerawada central prison. Mulchandani added,“Only one cop from Bhosari police station was present during the judgement.”

Surprisingly, personnel at the police room on the court premises kept denying that the incident had taken place.

The court in its order mentioned that a warrant had been issued in the case against those who escaped.

A senior police officer,on the condition of anonymity, said,“The police station that investigates the case must ensure security arrangements for the process that follows after the conviction. At least one person per convict must be deployed. It must also

be checked whether the police on duty at the gates were

informed immediately after the incident.”
