The CEO of a private bank was injured when an unidentified person shot at him at his flat in the Shantinagar area of Hyderabad on Sunday afternoon. Manmadh Dalia, CEO of Krishna Bhima Samruddhi Local Area Bank, which gives farm loans, sustained a bullet injury in his left leg. He is out of danger and is undergoing treatment.
Dalia has told police that he has no enmity with anyone and was not involved in any illegal transaction.

His wife Sushri has told police that the watchman of Sri Durga Kanumilli Apartment, where they live, called on the intercom and said a person from the bank had come to meet him. Hearing that, she asked the watchman to let him in. She said Dalia did not recognise the man, who pulled out a gun immediately after entering the flat and closed the door behind him. He asked the couple to give him money, ornaments and their ATM cards, she said.
When Dalia told him that they do not keep valuables at home, the man allegedly shot at the wall and threatened them. Sushri Dalia told police that she and Dalia immediately ran to the bedroom and were about to close the door when the accused fired, injuring Dalia, who somehow managed to close the door.
As the accused tried to open it, Dalia pushed his wife into the bathroom and asked her to call neighbours and police.
The assailant, however, managed to escape on his motorcycle before the watchman could react to Dalia’s shouts for help, said Deputy Commissioner of Police A Venkateshwara.
The watchman has told police that the accused did not know the CEO’s name and had asked for a bank manager living in the apartment. When the watchman asked for the name again, the accused reportedly pointed at Dalia’s SUV in the parking after which the watchman called Dalia’s home on intercom.
