An ally of the BJP from Kerala raised concerns over the “beef controversy” at the meeting of the NDA saying that the Central government should try to avoid such issues and, instead, focus on its work for the weak and the marginalised. Another ally from Goa expressed its reservations on the Supreme Court order curbing sale of liquor near highways and the music ban after 10 pm in the state. At the first extensive meeting of BJP and its NDA allies on Monday evening, C K Jaanu, a tribal leader from Kerala and head of the Janadhipathya Ooru Vikasana Munnani, said that the government’s energy should be focused on delivery of benefits of its programmes for Dalits, tribals and the downtrodden and not on “raising controversial issues like beef.”

Speaking to The Indian Express, P C Thomas, leader of BJP ally Kerala Congress (T), confirmed that Jaanu had raised the matter in her speech in Malayalam — which he had translated for those present.

For his part, Thomas avoided referring to the controversial issue in his speech.

But speaking to The Indian Express today, he said that no government can ban cow slaughter just because it’s part of the Directive Principles in the Constitution. “The Constitution makers felt they have to leave it (the issue of cow slaughter) tostates which would be more sensitive to the interests and traditions of the communities living there. Every community and its traditions should be respected and no such decision should be imposed,” Thomas said.

Despite several attempts, Jaanu was not available for comment.

Raising the issue of ban on music after 10 pm and the recent Supreme Court curbs on bars near highways, Vijai Sardesai of the Goa Forward Party said such bans have affected the livelihood of the people in Goa.

“I raised a point strongly that Goans wanted to maintain their identity, cultural heritage and their traditions. These were things that made Goa a premier wedding destination and party destination. If we cannot use music after 10 pm, how is it going to work?” Sardesai told The Indian Express. “I requested Prime Minister that states should be allowed to make rules that fit them and help them propagate their culture,” he said.

Sardesai expressed strong reservations against the Supreme Court curb on bars near highways. “Roads came after people. People were there already when the roads started being built,” he said adding that Goa should get exempted from the ban.

Sources said leaders of North-East parties also wanted both the Prime Minister and BJP chief Amit Shah to keep in view “the sensitivity of ethnic communities” while formulating policies.

According to Thomas and Sardesai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he had “noted” all the issues the leaders had raised.

At the meeting, Modi urged them to work and make plans keeping 2022 — the 75th anniversary of Independence — in mind. He urged the parties to prepare for “New India” and work to meet the aspirations of the youth.

Human rights threading BJP rule in India. Country Communalizing Hindu Hardliners like radical ISIS and religious extremists. RSS try to make uncivilized evil radical religious bondage society in India. We fight against British rule and we got freedom. Same way all have to fight against these evildoers. Bilbe says" Romans: 1:21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

It seems beef eating in Kerala caught up only after communist rule. It is not rooted in local culture. It is alien custom

What you will you do if people are not ready to change ? Killing innocent animals will have impact on climate ? We don't have another earth where we can migrate after killing this one ? Dun label it as BJP strategy if you are stubborn keralite. I wonder how literate people of Kerala failed to understand. May be this is not in their syllabus Govt is working for poor not rich. Will the Kerala people will die if they stop eating beef ? What is the point of education then ? If you don't want BJP don't vote for BJP....Simple why you have to blabber all the time? I think you are educated enough to understand that

There enough proof who people in Kerala are voting for, unlike uneducated north india. I have not heard of anyone dying because someone else ate beef either. And climate change. More can be done by saving our forests and waterbodies which every new goverment has been keen on pimping out to those who put money into their election campaign, than banning cow slaughter. Literate people in kerala do understand the husk from the grain. Which uneducated imbeciles do not for they are blinded by the opium of their beliefs. The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education. Martin Luther King, Jr. It does not seem like a BJP strategy. But more Taliban like

Civil war should take place in India then only condition will improve. All the countries which are better than India like European countries, UK, USA, etc are much better than India because civil war in these countries took place years ago and since then they are on rise while India status since Independence have remained of developing country.

Once the milch weans the milk ,,,, so called Gau mata devotees themselves auction their milch to the nearby Muslim butchers so as to make some money out of her flesh,,,,,, who is so well to do in the rural India who can afford to feed fodder to milch a worth of rupees 150 rupees per day and end up her deserting her on a highway as she weans the milk abruptly.......... If a person buys a milch for 50k and she weans milk after a couple of deliveries or develops a problem which he can't afford to treat as veterinary medicine prices are already sky high,,,,,,,,in such a scenario what do you surmise he will do,,,,,,, he will simply be looking for some buyer or succinctly a Muslim butcher..........
