Agra: Medical college staffer ‘raped’ by colleague

A 30-YEAR-OLD woman was allegedly raped by her colleague inside the office of a private medical college in Pilakhua area of Hapur three days ago. The woman, a Class IV employee of the college, is a widow and the mother of a toddler. She had joined the college last month. The accused, who is a supervisor, was arrested on Tuesday evening.

The incident came to light when the woman was found on the campus late Saturday and was admitted to the college hospital. On Tuesday, the police shifted her to the district hospital, where she was examined. The medical report is awaited.

“We have got evidence of the accused indulging in the act… including CCTV footage. The woman sustained injuries and fell unconscious, as the accused pushed her to the floor… We will initiate action against the college administration for concealing the incident for two days and trying to shelter the accused,” Pilakhua Circle Officer Atul Yadav said.

“We have recorded the victim’s statement. She has claimed that a supervisor raped her,” said Pilakhua police SHO Ajay Kumar Yadav. The victim has claimed that she does not know the name of the accused, as she joined recently, he added.

The college authorities were not available for comment.
