Two persons were caught with Rs 95,65,500 in demonetised and new currency notes from a vehicle on Friday on the road between Maseli in Gadchiroli and Deori in Gondia. The car was intercepted by Gadchiroli police during a nakabandi launched after receiving intelligence inputs, a press note issued by Gadchiroli police said.

“Pratapsingh and Hemant Gajbhiye were detained while they were carrying the cash,” said the police. “The old notes seized were worth Rs 33 lakh, while the new notes were worth Rs 62,65,500.

Pratapsingh told police he was taking help from some traders in Gondia to exchange the notes. Income Tax Department has been informed of the case,” the note said.
