Tollywood star Ravi Teja’s latest film, Raja The Great has emerged the biggest film in the career of its lead actor by raking in Rs 42 crore in six days. With no major rival at the box office, the film released on October 18 and has benefited from the Diwali holidays.
According to the filmmakers, in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the film, which is directed by Anil Ravipudi, has grossed Rs 35 crore earning Rs 21.69 crore for its distributors in share.
“The film has collected Rs 25.04 crore share and approximately Rs 42cr gross worldwide by the end of the first week. It is the best opening week for Ravi Teja,” said a trade source. It has beaten the actor’s previous record, which was held by his 2014 film Power that collected Rs 33 crore gross in six days.
Raja The Great has been reportedly hit by piracy as the film is available on the torrent sites. The director requested the audience earlier not to encourage piracy in a social media post. “Watch Raja The Great if you haven’t, we can assure you the Guaranteed Entertainment!! Stay away from Piracy nd njoy movie on big screens(sic),” Anil Ravilpudi tweeted.
Raja The Great has a blind protagonist with some uncanny skills. The film starring Mehreen Pirzada as the female lead was released to mixed reactions from the media and fans.
Raja The Great, starring Ravi Teja in the titular role, was bankrolled by Dil Raju. Ravi Teja’s next project is with Vikram Srikonda. The film, which is being called Touch Chesi Choodu, is being bankrolled by Nallamalupu Bujji and Vallabhaneni Vamsy under Lakshmi Narsimha Productions banner.
