Ace director SS Rajamouli, who has become a known name across the world after the much loved Baahubali franchise, has now officially confirmed two of his forthcoming projects. In an interview to Variety, the Baahubali director said he will first helm a movie for producer Danayya who has bankrolled movies such as Desamuduru and Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu. Danayya is also currently producing Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu’s next Bharat Ane Nenu. While the movie is said to be a social drama, rest of the details are unclear. “I don’t know which language it is going to be in and who is going to be in the cast, yet. I have committed to Danayya and that will be my next,” Rajamouli said to Variety.
After the untitled movie for Danayya, Rajamouli will join hands with Mahesh Babu for his next. This film will be produced by K.L. Narayana of Kshanam Kshanam fame. The project is likely to go on floors in 2019.
Several of Rajamouli’s projects such as Magadheera and Eega were massive blockbusters. But the director’s Baahubali franchise redefined box office success. Baahubali 2 raked in moolah from across the world becoming the first Indian movie to earn more than Rs 1000 crore. The film crossed the Rs 1500 crore mark, setting a new benchmark for Indian movies.
The Baahubali franchise starred Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannah, Ramya Krishnan and Sathyaraj. Set in the fiction world of Mahishmati, the film documented the power tussle between Baahubali (Prabhas) and Bhallaladeva (Rana). The film was unanimously raved about for its visual aesthetics and VFX.
