Shah Rukh Khan has been missing out from onscreen action for a while now. However, a few glimpses from Koffee With Karan season 5 reflects his enduring charm, sense of humour and ability to improvise.
When a bemused Karan Johar asked what he would do if he woke up as Alia Bhatt, Shah Rukh quipped, “I will just read the newspapers.” An embarrassed Alia Bhatt made a pretty picture. Shah Rukh didn’t just stop there. When Karan asked why he couldn’t make it to the last season, Shah Rukh remarked, “Because I wanted the TRPs to go down.”
Karan Johar shared this 30 seconds video on his Twitter account and captioned it, “#koffeewithkaran season 5!! Starts 6th November….the season opener with @iamsrk and @aliaa08 on @StarWorldIndia #KWKonSW.”
The interaction between a 50-year-old Shah Rukh, 23-year-old Alia Bhatt with an equally interesting host Karan Johar is must watch. Both Shah Rukh and Alia are teaming up for the first time in their upcoming movie Dear Zindagi, directed by Gauri Shinde.

This year’s Koffee With Karan has been exactly like KJo’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil — in the center of several rumours. It all began with the news that Karan has replaced his favourite SRK with Fawad Khan as the first guest. Then the tension between India and Pakistan escalated after Uri attacks and Fawad was firmly put out of the picture. Karan then went back to SRK.
Alia also seems to be Karan’s lucky charm these days. While earlier Kajol was the obvious choice for Koffee, now it seems it is Alia. She is also playing a guest appearance in ADHM, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and Fawad is seen in a cameo.
