The makers of The Kapil Sharma Show have refuted the rumours that politician Navjot Singh Sidhu has quit the comedy show. There has been speculation for a while about Sidhu leaving the show, hosted by popular stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma, in the light of the forthcoming Punjab Assembly polls.
The 52-year-old cricketer-turned-politician has launched a non-political front, Awaaz-E-Punjab. Prior to that, he had resigned from the BJP and quit his Rajya Sabha membership on July 18. Sidhu’s wife, Navjot Kaur, has reportedly said in an interview that he will now completely focus on Punjab politics and that he has recorded all the shows till September 30 and already said goodbye to the cast.
She said in an interview with Bollywoodlife.com, “Sidhu will now completely focus on Punjab politics. And that is why he has recorded all the shows till September 30 and has already said goodbye to the cast.” Sources in Awaaz-e-Punjab also claimed that Sidhu is returning to Punjab politics full throttle, now that his contractual obligations with the hit comedy show end in September.
“There’s no notice served by Sidhu sir to Sony. A reaction on this issue is unnecessary. All propaganda that he’s leaving is false.” Thnx

This fuelled the rumours of his exit from the show. Preeti Simoes, creative head of K9 Productions (Kapil’s production company), said in a tweet, “There is no notice served by Navjot Sidhu to Sony Entertainment Television. A reaction on this issue is unnecessary. All propaganda that he’s leaving is false.”
After a successful innings on the cricket field between 1983 and 1999, Sidhu retired from the game but stayed on as a commentator. However, he became a household name for the current generation with The Kapil Sharma Show.
