Distasteful, rude, offensive, and vulgar are some adjectives which have been used time and again to describe the roast comedy show — Comedy Nights Bachao. More than anything, the show has been in headlines in the showbiz world for controversies building around the content of the show. There is a string of Bollywood actors including Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Varun Dhawan and Hrithik Roshan, who avoid promoting their movies on the roast comedy show because of their displeasure over the jokes cracked by the hosts on the guests.
Recently, John Abraham too joined the ‘critics’ group of the show. John was on the show to promote his upcoming action flick Force 2 along with Sonakshi Sinha and Tahir Raj Bhasin. Krushna Abhishek, one of the hosts of Comedy Nights Bachao Taaza, made fun of John’s acting skills which did not go down well with him. He left the shoot in midway and left the sets.
Television actor Kavita Kaushik, who has been a victim of being roasting on the show too, has come out in support of John’s reaction. She recently tweeted saying, instead of walking out, everybody must boycott the rude and insensitive show.
Earlier also the FIR actor has been quite vocal about her dislike for Comedy Nights Bachao, as she herself was unhappy with Karan Wahi and Bharti Singh’s cheap comments on her and her show, FIR during the grand finale of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Reloaded last year. She even tried to give it back to them, then and there but failed to do so.
Well, it is not just the ‘cheap’ and ‘derogatory’ comments that have brought dislike to the show, but the hosts of the show have also been accused of passing some racist comments on the guests. Actor, Tannishtha Chatterjee too walked out of the show as Krushna cracked jokes on her dark skin tone. She even took the matter to social media and her post on Facebook led to a debate on the fine line between humour and humiliation.
