After stirring speculation that her Comedy Central series “Inside Amy” wouldn’t be back for another season, comedienne Amy Schumer has said that the show is merely going on hiatus as she pursues other projects.

Clarifying her earlier tweets that were posted in response to Kurt Metzger’s controversial comments about sexual assault, the comedienne tweeted, “#InsideAmySchumer is not cancelled.”

“@ComedyCentral has provided us with a wonderful home and we couldn’t be happier there. I am just touring,” she continued, before adding in another post, “Doing Standup and focusing on writing more for the next year at least. We are slated for a season 5 but not in the foreseeable future.”

Schumer sent many of her Twitter followers into a tailspin when she responded to users outraged by a recent string of misogynistic posts by one of Inside Amy’s writers, Kurt Metzger.

She said she was “saddened and disappointed” by her former colleague, but “he does not work for me.”

The comedian then added, “I didn’t fire Kurt. He isn’t a writer for my show because we aren’t making the show anymore. There are no writers for it.” Afterward, she retweeted a Twitter user who said, “We’ll miss your show.”

“Inside Amy” wrapped its fourth season in June and was renewed for a fifth earlier this year.

The sketch comedy series has picked up Peabody and Emmy awards, and gone viral with its buzzy, button-pushing
commentary on topics such as Hollywood sexism, double standards, rape culture, and gun control.
