Divyanka Tripathi is not just one of the most favourite actresses on Indian television, but also one of the highest paid. Why not, after all, her hit show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein continues to rule the ratings ever since it began three years back. And while we keep on getting a glimpse of her flamboyance and personal life in the various posts she shares on social media, we have seen little of her doing fashion shoots. Call it her girl-next-door image or the character of Ishita she plays, which has got fixed strongly with her real life personality, we can imagine Divyanka in her very charming avatar only. But recently Divyanka got an opportunity to break away from her typical image. A brand had reportedly approached her for the photo shoot of a fashion calendar. For many of her fans who feared that she’ll become type-cast in her onscreen character, this piece of news made them happy. And just when everything looked in place, something happened and she had to leave the project.
The fashion brand apparently wanted a popular face but due to budget constraints, they couldn’t afford to get a Bollywood actress onboard. So out of the many small screen celebs, they zeroed down on Divyanka, who currently is the most favourite television face with a massive fan following too.
According to Spotboye, Divyanka was quite excited for the shoot. But things got hung up when she demanded the brand to make her husband Vivek Dahiya a part of the project too, the report said. While the company found itself in a fix, she allegedly went on to demand a fee of Rs 5 lakh. “We were stunned when she insisted the same even after we told her that a women’s wear would sponsor the calendar. We tried to reason with her a little more, but she said very emphatically that she won’t do the shoot unless and until the fee is Rs 5 lakh and repeated that Vivek ought to be a part of it”, a source close to the brand told the website. The deal eventually fell apart.
Indianexpress.com could not independently verify the report. Divyanka is yet to comment.
