After a frenzy of speculation about the release of Rajinikanth’s 2.0, we now hear that the teaser and trailer launch might be postponed as well. Grapevine suggests that the film is likely to be released in April 2018 due to pending VFX work. The teaser is likely to be launched 30 days ahead of the release and the trailer is planned to be released 15 days before the film hits the big screens. However, an official confirmation is awaited. Initially, the teaser was scheduled to be launched in Hyderabad on November 22 while the trailer launch was set to happen on December 12 in Chennai.
The most-talked about project in Indian cinema, 2.0 recently made headlines as Akshay Kumar announced the release date of Padman. The Bollywood star had announced that Padman will release on January 26, 2018, the same weekend as 2.0’s scheduled release. The announcement created a social media frenzy about 2.0’s release and if there would be a clash between two of Akshay’s own projects. However, Akshay later clarified that there will be no clash. The actor had said that he would postpone the release of Padman, if Lyca decides to release it on the same weekend. Otherwise, he will go ahead with the release of Padman which is his production.
While there is no official confirmation about the delay, the speculation continues about 2.0’s release date. Apart from Rajini and Akshay, the film also stars Amy Jackson. Directed by Shankar, AR Rahman has composed the film’s music, which was launched at Dubai in one of the grandest events of Indian cinema. The film is said to be produced at a massive budget of 400 crores, making it the second-most expensive project in Asia.
