Actor Kajal Aggarwal is experiencing the best phase of her career at the moment. The actor, who was basking in the success of Chiranjeevi’s comeback film Khaidi 150 and Vivegam alongside Thala Ajith, is now waiting for the release of her third big film of 2017, Mersal. The actor is pairing up for the third time with Ilayathalapathy Vijay after Jilla (2014) and Thuppakki (2012). The film is scheduled for a Diwali release but before you experience their camaraderie on-screen, here are few things you should know about Kajal Aggarwal, who is one of the leading actresses down south.
Kajal Aggarwal was born and brought up in a Punjabi family settled in Mumbai. She studied at St. Anne’s High School and completed her pre-university education at Jai Hind College. She pursued her graduation in mass media, with specialization in marketing and advertising, from Kishinchand Chellaram College.
Kajal has acted in Bollywood, Tollywood and Kollywood films. She made her debut in the film industry with Bollywood film Kyun… Ho Gaya Na which starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vivek Oberoi. However, she got recognition as an actor with her work down south.
She made her Telugu debut with Lakshmi Kalyanam in 2007 but the film was a dud at the box office and failed to make the audience notice this talented actor. In the same year, Kajal appeared in Chandamama directed by Krishna Vamsi. Her character in this young love story got much recognition but it is only in the year of 2009 when her career took a huge leap. In 2009, the actor was paired with debutante and Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan in Baahubali fame director’s magnum opus Magadheera. The film became the highest grossing Telugu film of the year and Kajal received many awards for the same.
In the same year, Kajal shared the screen space with Stylish Star Allu Arjun in Arya 2. The film did not get as much attention as expected but Kajal was appreciated for her role. Later in 2010, the actor appeared in the romantic comedy Darling starring Baahubali fame Prabhas. The film became a commercial success at the box office and earned her another Filmfare nomination for Best Actress in Telugu.
While her career in Telugu industry has been constantly been on the up and up, Kajal’s Kollywood career started slowy. After starring in a few nondescript movies, she made a mark with Vijay starrer Thuppakki, which had released in 2012. Films like Jilla and Maari followed. In 2017, she bagged two big films – Vivegam starring Ajith, which went on to become the superhit film of the year and now, she is waiting for the release of Mersal.
In Telugu industry too, Kajal started off her 2017 with a powerpacked performance in Chiranjeevi’s Khaidi 150 and received critical acclaim for Nene Raju Nene Mantri in Telugu. Kajal’s career for sure proves that she is here to stay.
