Simbu aka STR who recently made headlines for releasing the “Demonetisation song” has now thanked his fans for all the support and love that he has been receiving. Through a video, Simbu said he was elated by the response he got for the trailer and the album of Santhanam’s Sakka Podu Raja which marks the actor’s debut as a composer. He further adds that he is also receiving a lot of good feedback for his ‘other songs’, a hint at the demonetisation song that has gone viral recently.
With a catchy refrain ‘No cash, No cash’, Simbu’s song is a critical commentary on demonetisation, a decision made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi one year back. With lyrics penned Kabilan Vairamuthu, the song instantly caught the fancy of listeners. The song’s lyrics reflect the popular mood of the nation and the common people who were affected the most by the Centre’s move to scarp the high-value banknotes. The song is a part of the album for Thatrom Thookarom for which music is composed by Balamurali Babu.

The actor who quit social media some time back has also left his fans hoping for a new venture from him. Looking extremely fit and sporting a new hairstyle, Simbu clarified that it wasn’t the look of any of his films. “Thank you for all the support. Don’t think this is the look for any film. This is for something different. It is coming. I will be back. Trust me,” said Simbu.
Notably, Simbu is part of Mani Rathnam’s next project. The untitled project has a stellar star cast with Aravind Swamy, Jyothika, Vijay Sethupathi, Aishwarya Rajesh and Fahaadh Faasil also being part of it. The film will have music by AR Rahman.
