Nayanthara’s Aramm which released on Friday has opened to rave reviews. Directed by Gopi Nainar, the film has received equal praise from critics. However, the film is the latest victim of piracy as several torrent websites have different prints of the film within days of its release. This could affect the business of the film, collections for which were expected to pick up due to good word-of-mouth. The film joins the long list of films like Vivegam, Thupparivaalan which were released online within days of their official release.
Actor Vishal who is also the general secretary of Nadigar Sangam and the president of Tamil Film Producer Council has been active in the fight against piracy. The actor made news recently for aiding in an arrest of a torrent website admin. However, the situation hasn’t improved much as new films continue to be pirated.
On the other hand, the efforts to promote Aramm are on in full swing. A generally reticent Nayanthara has taken to promoting Aramm unlike her other films due to the film’s socio-political content. After launching a campaign online, the lady superstar went on a promotional tour around theaters in Chennai to interact with audiences. Making stops at several famous screens in Chennai, Nayanthara took time to promote the movie with the viewers.
