Vitti Dandu is the popular game played with two sticks: a large one called a dandu, which is used to hit a smaller one, the vitti. However, now one does not get to see or play this sport any longer. Rajradha Movies has taken up the cudgels on behalf of producer Leena Deore to revive the game in the form of a film. Set against the theme of pre-Independent days, the film titled Vitti Dandu revolves around a grandfather and his grand son.
A song Kheloo chala vitti dandu, Govinda Govinda Govinda written by Shrirang Godbole, sung by Meghna Mishra and composed by Santosh Mulekar has been picturised on child actor Nishant Bhavsar. Directed by debutant Ganesh Kadam, it stars Ravindra Mankani, Yatin Karyekar, Ashok Samarth, Mrinal Thakur, Vikas Kadam, Gauhar Khan, Shubhankar Atre, Vaibhav Ambekar, Radhika Deore, Rajiv Athawale, Rajendra Patwardhan, Charudutt Bhagwat, Sanjeev Chavan and Aamir Tadwalkar. Story and screenplay by Vikas Kadam, dialogues by Abhiram Bhadkamkar, choreography by Deepali Vichare, editing by Jayant Jatar, cinematography by Shailesh Awasthi and action by Sunil Rodrigues are the other credits.
25 visually-challenged people attend the screening of Tamil film Cuckoo
In a heartwarming gesture, about 25 visually-challenged people under the care of city based NGO Raindropss, attended the special screening of the latest Tamil film Cuckoo.
They listened to the dialogue and music of the film, which revolves around issues and romance played by the visually-challenged lead characters. Directed by Raju Murugan, the film stars Dinesh (who earlier acted in Tamil movie Attakathi) and debutant Malavika Nair.
Raindropss focuses on social awareness to the public through entertainment and media. Playback singer and double Oscar winner A. R. Rahman’s sister A. R. Raihanah is the brand ambassador for the NGO.
Raju Murugan, cinematographer Varma and Dinesh were also present at the screening. PTI
