NOMINEE SPEAK

I still can’t believe this! The nomination has given a big boost to my morale and confidence in the 21 st Annaul Life OK Screen Awards. It has broken the differential membrane between big budget cinema and small indie films. I was expecting a couple of nominations, but certainly not eight!

We were passionate about Haider right from the first time Vishal shared his incredible vision with us, and are so lucky to have had the superb cast and crew that helped make that vision a reality. We are thrilled with our nomination in the Best Film category and and look forward to the Awards

I was confident that Highway will be nominated. The moment I read the first line of the story, I gave a go ahead. I had immense faith in Imtiaz Ali. Collectively, the entire team have done a fabulous job.

It’s amazing that Highway has been nominated in the Best Film category. It’s my first film as a producer and I don’t know whether I will produce another movie. I’m so happy that the film has been nominated.

I really don’t know what worked in PK’s favour. For me, story is the foundation around which everything else is woven. If the story and character doesn’t work for me, the film doesn’t work. It was indeed a pleasant surprise when I heard about the nomination.

We had complete faith in Vikas Bahl and the script was so identifiable. The audience could relate to the different aspects in the film — everyone goes through a heartbreak, the middle class milieu was so relatable. It’s also the reason Viacom came on board.

We all loved the script and were big fans of Vikas Bahl’s Chillar Party. With Queen there was a discussion. The moment Vikas and Chaitali came up with the idea, we all knew it’s gonna be fun.

Ugly had content that we believed in and the script was fantastic. The film has been appreciated across the world. It did not come as a surprise that Ugly was nominated because in the last few years Screen has been supporting small films. But eight nominations is fantastic! Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith and go ahead.
