Monica Dogra plays a lesbian in short film, Relapse

Last seen in Dhobi Ghat, the American born actress, Monica Dogra will be seen opposite Arjun Mathur in Sabal Singh Shekhawat’s Fireflies that releases on October 31. Mathur was last seen in Ankur Arora Murder Case.
Fireflies is a story of two brothers who have experienced trauma that has created a wedge in their relationship. The film also depicts the journey of long term love and complex love.”
Apart from starring in Fireflies, Dogra also has two foreign films in her kitty. She essays the role of a lesbian opposite Casey Leger in a short film, titled, Relapse. Unlike other films that explore homosexuality, in Relapse, Leger’s character wants to be a male, despite being born a female. “As human beings we all take extreme measures to be the person we believe we ought to be,” said Dogra while speaking about her co-star’s character.
Dogra also plays the role of a journalist in Sorab Wadia’s Mirage. “My character befriends a convicted Muslim drug dealer and gets caught in the web of the mafia and the government,” says Dogra about her role in Mirage, which is currently in post production stage.
